Blackburn & Darwen Youth Zone Celebrates Its Biggest Annual Patron’s Dinner Yet

Blackburn & Darwen Youth Zone hosted its Annual Patron’s Dinner at the stunning Mytton Fold, bringing together over 140 patrons, supporters, and community champions to celebrate a year of remarkable achievements. This unforgettable evening marked the largest gathering of supporters in the Youth Zone’s history, united in their shared mission to empower and inspire young people across the borough.

The event, which was expertly hosted by Zain (age 12) and Daisy (age 13)—two inspiring members of the Youth Zone—was a vibrant celebration of the vital contributions made by 74 patrons who help support 5,000 young people annually. Attendees were treated to breathtaking performances by the talented dancers and singers of Blackburn & Darwen Youth Zone, showcasing the incredible skills and potential nurtured within the organisation.

The evening also highlighted stories of impact, including interviews with patrons Tanya Targett (Symclean) and Steven Shorrock (Staci), who shared their inspiring journeys of Corporate Volunteering. Next Level Sports shone a spotlight on their partnership with the Youth Zone, celebrating sports achievements through the voices of young people and their parents.

Hannah Allen, CEO of Blackburn & Darwen Youth Zone, opened the event, expressing heartfelt gratitude to the patrons and sponsors who make their vital work possible. She commented:

“The dedication and generosity of our patrons, funders and the Blackburn with Darwen council are the backbones of Blackburn & Darwen Youth Zone. Together, we provide a safe, inclusive, and inspiring environment where thousands of young people can find their spark, develop skills, and create brighter futures. Tonight is a testament to the power of community, and we couldn’t be prouder of what we’ve achieved together.”

The evening was made possible thanks to the generous support of headline sponsor AMS Group and event sponsors Blackburn College (UK), Mytton Fold, and East Lancashire Chamber of Commerce. Their contributions are crucial to the organisation’s efforts to raise £2.5 million annually, ensuring free membership, free hot meals, and vital activities nightly across Youth Zone sites.

Speaking at the event, patron Steven Shorrocks from Staci shared:
“Being part of Blackburn & Darwen Youth Zone has been an incredible journey. Supporting this cause is not just an investment in young people, but in the future of our community. Seeing the impact firsthand is truly inspiring.”

Blackburn & Darwen Youth Zone is committed to fostering skills and aspirations, community cohesion, and health and well-being among young people aged 5 to 19 (and up to 25 for those with additional needs and through the youth hub). Through its innovative programming, the Youth Zone provides young people with the opportunities they need to thrive.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined this milestone event. Together, we’re making a lasting difference in the lives of young people.
