Blackburn Youth Zone called on businesses across the community to work together to support young people’s health and wellbeing through the successful campaign Paint The Town Orange.
Blackburn Youth Zone launched their corporate challenge which raised over £19,000K and ran from July – October, the campaign brought 13 businesses together all fundraising, to help BYZ appoint a new targeted support worker; to help young people to overcome life’s challenges, especially in a post-COVID world.
Bryony Jackson Operations Manager from BT said:
“Between BT Blackburn & Accrington we baked, we cooked, we made gifts, we held raffles and tombola’s and even climbed a mountain !!! We reconnected for a great cause & are super proud of our teams. We have thoroughly enjoyed making a difference in our community and raising over £6,000K for Blackburn Youth Zone.”
NHS rates suggest probable mental disorders in young people increased from one in nine in 2017 to one in six in 2020. highlighted significant impacts on young people’s mental health during the pandemic. (Need a recent BwD statistic)
Hannah Allan – CEO of Blackburn Youth Zone:
“More and more young people are reaching out for help… but not enough are getting support. When problems start, when things get too much, when young people pick up the courage to talk, they are then put on a waiting list. No young person should face a mental health problem alone. We are overwhelmed by businesses fundraising for Blackburn Youth Zone and the commitment.”
Every pound you raise will go towards funding a dedicated Targeted Support worker. Helping local young people struggling with low-level mental health get the best possible mental health support and have the resilience to overcome life’s difficulties.
