Blackburn Youth Zone is delighted to announce that BAE Systems have pledged to continue their support for Blackburn Youth Zone.
BAE Systems, the UK’s largest defence and Security Company with major sites operating at Warton and Samlesbury, have backed the Youth Zone by pledging financial support as a Patron.
Established six years ago, Blackburn Youth Zone provides a wide range of activities for young people aged 5 to 19 years old. With an entrance fee of just 50p, activities range from sports to arts, craft and games.
Facilities include a canteen, basketball courts, covered football pitch, climbing walls, dance studio, fully-equipped gym, live music room, electronic music room and a gaming room.
BAE Systems, in partnership with Blackburn Youth Zone also deliver STEM projects for Blackburn Youth Zone members.
The STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) project delivered at the Academy for Skills & Knowledge (ASK), Samlesbury is a key feature of supporting and engaging Blackburn Youth Zone members.
The STEM project enabled young people who are members at Blackburn Youth Zone to experience engineering and to develop new skills – such as communication and teamwork. The young people built their own aircraft model starting from designing it through to digitally printing their own model. This enabled young people to experience and understand different elements of engineering.
