Pendle Doors Charity Golf Day Raises £5,000 for Blackburn & Darwen Youth Zone

CARDEN PARK GOLF RESORT – Thursday 4th July 2024

Pendle Doors, a proud family-owned manufacturing business, successfully organised a charity golf day at the prestigious Carden Park Golf Resort, raising £5,000 for Blackburn & Darwen Youth Zone. This event was a testament to Pendle Doors’ commitment to supporting the local community and empowering young people through sport.

The event, held on Thursday, 4th July 2024, brought together golf enthusiasts and businesses together for a day of friendly competition and fundraising. The funds raised will be directed towards the “Next Level Golf” initiative, a program designed to introduce young people to the sport of golf and promote healthier, more prosperous lives through physical activity.

“Next Level Golf,” established in June 2023 with the generous backing of Gordon Taylor OBE, aims to take the Youth Zone’s sports program to new heights. By funding a dedicated sports manager, the initiative ensures that young people from all backgrounds have the opportunity to engage in sports, with golf being a key focus. With support from all six local golf clubs, the program opens doors for young people to explore and enjoy the sport.

Ian Hartley, Commercial Director from Pendle Doors, expressed his pride in the company’s efforts: “We are thrilled with the success of the charity golf day and the funds raised for Blackburn & Darwen Youth Zone. As a family-owned business, we believe in giving back to our community, and this event has allowed us to do just that.”

Managing Director Ryan Anderson echoed this sentiment, highlighting the importance of supporting local initiatives. “Our team is committed to making a positive impact, and we are proud to support the Youth Zone in their mission to help young people reach their ‘Next Level’ through sports,” said Ryan Anderson.

Blackburn & Darwen Youth Zone plays a crucial role in the community, providing more than 4,500 members with over 60 hours of services outside school hours. Their state-of-the-art facilities in Blackburn and their satellite site in Darwen offer a safe and engaging environment for young people aged 5-19, with specialised services for those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) and employability programmes for young adults up to the age of 25.

Wayne Wild, MBE Chairman of Blackburn & Darwen Youth Zone, said:

“The £5,000 raised by Pendle Doors will be instrumental in furthering the goals of “Next Level Sports” and ensuring that young people in Blackburn and Darwen have access to the opportunities they deserve. The Youth Zone costs £2.6m to operate, and we really appreciate the efforts of local businesses organising fundraising events to ensure we keep raising aspirations of young people in the borough.”
